Today is the first day of the last year of high school for this great kid! Tor is an amazing young man and his mom and I are so proud of his hard work. He has big plans for his future and we are confident he can achieve anything he pursues. Young learners are heading back to classes after a difficult couple of years. This year our district theme is "caring communities." I think of this as both descriptive and aspirational—created by and for each of us as we work and learn together. Best wishes for a year of fun and growth to everyone!

Educating our children in Central Okanagan Public Schools involves the expertise and hard work of thousands of employees throughout the school district, including teachers, librarians, educational assistants, office staff, custodians, school bus operators, facilities personnel in maintenance and construction, and many more. Labour Day is a celebration of workers and the hard-won rights that protect and support us all and the backbone of the labour movement’s successes has been unions. Today and every day I stand in solidarity with our unions and urge the provincial government to provide fair wage offers that reflect current inflationary pressures. #SD23 #education #labourday #Kelowna #okanagan

Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of the terrible tragedy that claimed 5 lives. At the somber memorial ceremony we heard from parents and officials, and held a moment of silence to reflect and remember. Every worker deserves to come home safe. #ke
